this too shall pass

a wall of silence
hides a cyclone of thoughts
relentless unmanageable subversive thoughts
bow to your master
bow to me
for without my body
you cease to be
allow me sight
allow me breath
allow me food and drink and rest
yet civil war progressed

phantoms everywhere
beckoning
"here ye here ye
witness us congregate merrily"
wretched little wraiths
illusion-borne infections
running amuck randomly
may i ride the ferris wheel father
no, it's the hall of mirrors for thee
but i cannot see
you will, eventually

such damned illusions
so sweet, so honeyed
swaying, persuading me
they are unseen
they are unheard
yet claim reality
they mock and jeer
when i toss flaws
when i cry "imperfection"
and hastily
they mark you as
divine intervention

a thunderstorm invades my senses
a gift from heaven
to a cyclone from hell
windows open
floors are flooded
the joy of temporary peace
the ease with which i breathe
raindrops splatter
reminders of tears
thunder strikes loud
strike louder, i plead

yet dwindling storms
revive those threats
those bets
on who the victor shall be
demented thoughts
or cherished sanity
for silence strikes
louder than thunder
menacing absorbing me
and life resumes
two separate worlds
external calm
internal mutiny

how loud they are
the drop of pins
the blades of grass
the fluttering wings
such rowdiness
such brass
it seems as if
creation wills
to rile
to anger
to bash

be still for once
my sun and moon
how ungrieving you are
how dare you roam
the skies that loom
when worlds collide and barge
descend from heaven
to earthly beings
and pay your sorrows here
or else you risk
my life and soul
indifferent, insincere

be still for once
halt time
stop others
from smiling senselessly
for it is time
to mourn loch ness
that lurks way down beneath
and one day soon
when scales turn soft
i promise you that i
will heed your words
on yin and yang
on peace, on love, on man
